Bob Coll was
born at Maidstone Castle,Parish of dromin
in 1854 and was educated at Weirs College, the crescent, limerick. He
was a member ofLimerick County council for the bruree Elecoral Division
from 1899 to 1905,Being elected Chairman of the second
council (1902-1905). He was a great all round athlete and
uncle of Larry Roche-Owen D Coll who
were also famous Athletes in their own right.Another
Nephew,
Robert Roche
was the first
County Sec1900 to 1913.- Bobs brother Patrick Coll was a member of
the County
Council from (1900 to1902 in his capacity as Chairman of the Kilmallock
Rural District Council.........
Patrick Coll`s Immediate predecessor in this position, David Moloney,
Bridge
House, Knocklong, was a member of the council from 1899 to 1900 and his
grandson, John McCarthy is now the County Veterinary Officer. Bob Coll
was
described by Frank Dineen, the great judge of an athlete, as `one of
the best all-
round men the world ever produced adding that if there had been a
governing
body for athletes in his time , then the world records made by Bob
Coll would
still be standing`. In addition , he was a first class amateur
boxer , handball player and accomplished horseman. It was said of
Robert Coll that as chairman
of the Council, he could leap over agenda sheets as quickly and as
successfully as he did over the bar in the athletic World! Bob Coll`s
nephew,
OwenD Coll was
one of the first six clerical officers

recruited
by the new
Limerick
County Counc
il in november1901
. As already
noted in the article on the council`s formative years , his prowess on
the
athletic field was second to none. He died suddenly in august, 1940,
while still in th
e
service of the Council.
Owen D Coll was born at knockmore,
Bruree in 1882. He was a classmate at bruree National School of Eamon
De Valera and Tim Hannon. [a member of limerick county council from
-1934 to 1942]. He started work in the county
council in 1901 at the age of nineteen years. Later, he came to
live ,with his wife Mary coll [a second cousin] at no 7 st, johns
villas, Mulgrave Street, Limerick.

Jimmy, John unmarried, Bunny, C Brown,Baby, Helen Reilly,Baba,Kathleen
Boyle...

The
House on the right of screen was Constructed at the
turn of the 20th Century By {Foxy Pat Coll seen above photo} It
consisted of a shop and served as post office
until the late sixties.
The Last owner of the old post office, seen here which is
situated at main st Bruree, County Limerick, was A daughter of {
Foxy pat coll} name Bunny Brown, The
Current owner`s are JAMES AND Geraldine COLL, Jame`s Great Grandfather
